Timber restoration
A little care. A new life for timber.
Original doors, windows and joinery are worth more than the replacement. This is slow work, done by hand, and it is the work we are proudest of.
Scope
What we restore
- Timber front doors and internal doors
- Timber windows, sashes and sills
- Architraves, skirting and decorative mouldings
- Detailed hand sanding and preparation
- Undercoat and enamel systems built up in coats
- Aged, weathered and previously neglected surfaces

How the job runs
Same order, every job
01
Assess
We check what is sound and what needs repair first.
02
Strip and sand
Back to a sound, level surface by hand where needed.
03
Repair
Splits, dents and rot filled and shaped.
04
Undercoat
Sealed, then sanded flat between coats.
05
Enamel
Built up in thin coats for a hard, even finish.
Where the detail shows
Enamel hides nothing. Every ridge, brush mark and missed edge is visible in the finish, so the preparation has to be right before a topcoat goes near it.
- Sanded flat between every coat
- Hardware removed rather than cut around
- Finish sheen matched to the room, not to the tin
